Originally created for the Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3), this platformer was
made available on the PlayStation Portable (PSP) in 2009 with a release
date of November 17 in North America, enabling fans to take the game to
whole new levels. This new entry in the LittleBigPlanet series of games
delivers a brand new story mode, hours of exciting gameplay, and
beautifully redesigned levels that capture the feeling of the original
perfectly. Developed by SCE Cambridge Studio along with Media Molecule,
LittleBigPlanet for PSP plays much like its PS3 predecessor, though
without the multiplayer aspect. The PSP platform story mode offers 23
main levels and 14 mini levels, all of which are centered on themes that
fans might recognize from the original game. Though the look of these
levels might be familiar, each one has a new design, giving the game
freshness despite similarities in gameplay and design. The story for
LittleBigPlanet for PSP is a sequel to the PS3 LBP that follows Sackboy
as he walks around the world, gathering Creator Curators and convincing
them to attend a carnival in Brazil. This adventure takes Sackboy
through several different environments, from The Orient in China to the
Hollywood-inspired Tinsel Town, and introduces him to a cast of unique
characters. Each character brings that larger-than-life personality that
gives the LBP games their colorfulness and sense of fun. Much as with
the original game and with the succeeding games for PS4, LittleBigPlanet
for PSP focuses on collecting, building, and sharing. LBP is a
platformer that encourages players to create and share their own levels
within the community, and that is carried over in this entry into the
series. With hundreds of items to collect throughout the various story
mode levels, you have the opportunity to create anything your
imagination can think up. Downloadable content provides even more
materials, stickers, and costumes you can use to create your own levels
or customize your playable characters. Whether you like to think up
fiendishly difficult obstacles or focus on dressing up interesting
characters in your games, LittleBigPlanet for PSP gives you plenty of
ways to let your creativity shine. It’s easy to share your creations
with the rest of the LBP community, letting other players try their
hands at your levels. Simply post your designs to the community pool,
and wait for other fans to discover the new addition you’ve made
available. On the flip side, you can also download content that other
players have created, giving yourself even more levels to play through
once you’ve completed the story mode. With such a vast pool available at
your fingertips, you can easily add hours of gameplay to your PSP
LittleBigPlanet experience, allowing you to linger for a bit longer in
Sackboy’s vibrant world. This combination of new platforming levels, the
ability to make your own creations.
