ABOUT THE ARTIST
Rita Schwartz lived in the Brownsville neighborhood of Brooklyn in the 1940s and early 1950s. Schwartz worked as an illustrator in the Art Department of the Associated Merchandising Corporation and also attended art school at the Brooklyn Museum. She left Brooklyn in 1953 and later studied fine art, painting, and print making at Pratt Graphics Center (an extension of Pratt Institute) in Manhattan following her marriage and the birth of her children. In 1989, Schwartz lived in Roslyn N.Y. and had become a jewelry designer. She died in 2007.
