A set of 4 jigs for quickly and accurately cutting the needed recesses for fitting Salice Air hinges. These beautifully engineered hinges fit into the edges of cupboards resulting in an almost invisible hinge. However, they require a very neat and narrow recess in the cupboard body and door. These jigs address that challenge.
Two of the jigs are designed for the cupboard body section of the hinge. They have 2 fences that can be adjusted to set the location of the jig. The jigs have small notches to allow lineup with the centreline. They can then be clamped in place and the initial cut taken. Then a small sliding section can be moved across to guide the second operation - cutting the deeper section. Depending on the cutter used this can be cut using increasingly deep cuts - or a more shallow guide cut can be taken to be completed later with a traditional drill. The slide across section also allows for the pilot hole for the mount to be drilled. These 2 jigs are identical, however we include 2 to allow for them to be setup once for a job - rather than to keep having to adjust the same jig. These jigs also have a removable end section if you only want to use a single fence.
The second pair of jigs is designed for the cupboard doors. These jigs are sided. Like the first 2 jigs they have adjustable fences to allow for accurate placement; they have notches showing the centreline; and have sliding sections for allow for the first and second operation. The first operation allows for the shallow faceplate to be cut; the second allows for the deeper cut and the pilot holes for the mounting screws.
We also offer a third set of jigs (see the 'include holder jigs' option above) for the larger 'holders' available for the cupboard body. These jigs are functionally identical to the main cupboard body jigs - simply larger to match the holders. We do not currently offer jigs for the cupboard door holders. All jigs are designed to be clamped to the bodies and doors of cupboards and result in a perfect hinge recess. Printed in durable PETG. All hardware included is A2 stainless steel (aside from the allen keys).
The jigs all come with the required allen key neatly stored in the bodies using small magnets.
Due to the narrow nature of the Salice Air hinges, these jigs require narrow cutters. They are designed to be used with a template router cutter no larger than 7mm. We recommend the Trend MB/11X1/4TC (for the shallow cuts) and the MB/12X1/4TC for the deeper cuts. These cutters are not supplied with the jigs. However, we do keep a small supply of these cutters which can be ordered with the jigs.
The colour of the jigs may vary based on materials in stock when your order is placed.
As with any template, we strongly recommend you try the template on a spare piece of wood first to ensure it's compatible with your hinge and cutter and to familiarise yourself with the process.
Always secure the jig, then position the router carefully within the jig before switching it on and lowering it into the material to cut. Equally, ensure the router has fully stopped before removing it from the jig. This will prevent damage to the jig.
