The lightsaber effect on this statue is "awesome!"  The lightsaber blade is a cathode ray tube & fills with gas when ignited.  You can see in the video that the blade ignites from the hilt and continues outwards toward the end of the blade.  When the blade is turned off, the red color retracts from the end of blade towards the hilt.  Amazing effect!
