Fitment Notes

  • Universal turbocharger — not vehicle-specific. Fits any application with a 2.25" V-band turbine inlet, 4" / 101.6mm compressor inlet piping, and a 3" V-band turbine outlet connection
  • Internally wastegated — a Turbosmart GenV IWG Actuator (14 PSI spring) is included and pre-mounted. No external wastegate is required. Boost control is managed entirely via the integrated internal wastegate and actuator assembly
  • TS-1 series is oil-cooled only — no water cooling ports on the center housing. Engine oil feed and drain are the sole means of center housing cooling and bearing lubrication. For water-cooled center housing, see the TS-2 series equivalent (TS-2-5862B-VB082I)
  • Turbine inlet is 2.25" V-band — this must be matched to the exhaust manifold or turbo manifold outlet with a compatible 2.25" V-band flange. This is a different inlet specification than the T4 flange variant (TS-1-5862B-T4082E); confirm manifold outlet style before ordering
  • The included GenV IWG actuator is rated at 14 PSI base spring pressure. Turbosmart GenV IWG replacement springs are available separately for builds requiring a different base boost reference pressure

Product Description

The Turbosmart TS-1-5862B-VB082I is a 5862 oil-cooled internally wastegated turbocharger from Turbosmart's TS-1 performance series, fitted with a 2.25" V-band turbine inlet, 0.82 A/R turbine housing, and a Turbosmart GenV IWG actuator (14 PSI) included and ready to install. It is a universal turbocharger rated at 725–835 HP, sharing the same core 5862 wheel sizing as the T4-flange externally wastegated variant (TS-1-5862B-T4082E) but offering two key configuration differences: a V-band turbine inlet and an integrated internal wastegate.

The V-band turbine inlet (2.25") provides a meaningful packaging advantage over a fixed T4 flange: the turbine housing can be clocked (rotated) to any orientation relative to the center housing and secured at that position with the V-band clamp, allowing the builder to aim the turbine inlet and outlet flanges in whatever direction best accommodates manifold routing, downpipe exit, and bay clearance — without being locked into the fixed bolt-hole pattern of a T4 flange. For custom fabrication-heavy builds, this flexibility can significantly reduce the complexity of manifold and downpipe design.

The internal wastegate configuration eliminates the need for a separate external wastegate unit, wastegate manifold port, wastegate outlet pipe, and associated plumbing. The Turbosmart GenV IWG actuator included with this turbocharger uses the same construction principles as Turbosmart's standalone IWG75 product line — billet aluminum body, Nomex-reinforced silicone diaphragm, and stainless steel actuator rods and clevis — pre-installed with a 14 PSI base spring. Replacement springs for the GenV IWG are available separately from Turbosmart for builders requiring a different base boost reference pressure. The additional weight of this variant (7.40 kg / 16.3 lbs vs. 6.06 kg / 13.3 lbs for the externally wastegated version) reflects the mass of the integrated wastegate valve assembly and IWG actuator hardware.

All core TS-1 construction specifications carry over identically from the externally wastegated variant: 7+7 2618-grade aluminum splitter compressor wheel, 713C Inconel turbine wheel, 310S stainless steel investment-cast turbine housing, CFD-optimized housings, proprietary dual ceramic bearing system, VSR speed balancing, and integrated iron backplate on the center housing.
