‌This is a pair of large Japanese Kutani porcelain auspicious lion statues, 11 inches high. They are hand-painted in red and white with gilding embellishments, with the theme of lions bringing good luck and happiness. The statues are well-depicted, with clear layers and very beautiful color matching. Even after a long time, the color fastness is still solid. The ball under one of the feet has been damaged and repaired. Please see the circle in the picture. Because they are a pair, I don’t want to break them up for sale, so the price is about the same as the selling price of one Kutani lion. The other broken foot ball is sold with it. It comes from my grandmother’s legacy and is sold according to what is shown in the picture. Thank you for your looking🌹

Craftsmanship and production process: Kutani porcelain is a kind of painted porcelain, which is famous for its complex production process. It goes through more than a dozen processes such as quarrying, crushing, screening, precipitation, molding, baking, bisque firing, painting, glazing and firing to complete. This complex production process makes Kutani porcelain lion ornaments particularly precious. ‌

‌Historical background‌: Kutani porcelain originated in the Kutani region of Japan and has a history of more than 350 years. Its painting skills are superb, especially the lion ornaments, which are famous for their majestic majesty, rough lines, vividness, and domineering.

‌Market status‌: Due to the aging of Kutani ware craftsmen, there are few young people engaged in handicrafts, which has led to the loss of this craft and the scarcity of fine products.
