DUCKER & SONS VINTAGE BROGUES – BROWN / TAN – UK 7 – EXCELLENT CONDITION
A super, vintage pair of four-eyelet, cap-toe, quarter-brogue derby shoes
in beautiful brown / tan calf leather from Ducker & Son of The Turl in
Oxford. They are in excellent used condition, overall – notwithstanding a
little creasing across the vamps and the odd surface mark here and there (see
photos).
Ducker & Son closed down in the last few years or so, and so they
will be producing no more shoes, which is very sad, I think. Past customers
include World War One air ace Baron von Richthofen,
J.R.R. Tolkien, Evelyn Waugh, various Bowes-Lyon’s (the late queen-mother's
family) and several Maharajahs; more lately, they have included Olympic rower
Matthew Pinsent, comedian Rowan Atkinson,Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson
and Formula One’s Eddie Jordan.
But, please remember, these are not new so do not bid on them if you
want a pair of completely unmarked shoes – they will cost considerably more !!
The width fitting is ‘EX’ – which is a ‘standard’ width fitting.
The shoes feature calf leather uppers, full leather linings and leather
soles.
Wonderful quality shoes from a traditional English shoemaker.
