This is a new Hydro Generator for use in Water Generation Projects designed by Motenergy, Inc. The Generator is rated 1000 watts for one Nozzle on 12 VAC, but up to 2 Nozzles can be used for at 2000 watts at 2800 rpm at 24 VAC. (Additional Nozzles sold separately). Easy to install and adjust to maximum power with the Adjustable Spear Valve Nozzle.
The Generator has a stainless steel shaft and Aluminum Adapter Hub to fit the Turgo Wheel. The Turgo Wheel is made from Polycarbonate Plastic for long life. The output is 3-phase, Y-connected AC, and it can be converted to DC with the use of a 3-phase Bridge Rectifier (Rectifier is not supplied but can be found on eBay for $10). It has a 7/8 Inch diameter shaft with a 3/16" keyway.
The Spear Valve is adjustable. It has an input with a 1 - 1/2 Inch (1.5 Inch) G thread BSPP. NPT to British G thread Adapter is $30-$40.
The output is set for over 55 amps AC per phase, which means you can get 80 amps DC from a 3-phase bridge rectifier. This is a continuous 80 Amps DC, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
The 3-phase voltage (A-B-C) is set to provide 12 VAC at 1200 rpm and 1000 watts, 24 VAC at 2800 rpm and 2000 watts. This is a 12 magnet, 12 pole, (6 pole pair) rotor, so the output frequency is calculated as Speed in RPM/60 * 6.
Note that the voltage output is proportional to the speed of the generator. As you spin faster, the voltage increases. Also note that this unit will not run appliances directly. If you need Single Phase AC output, then you can purchase your own Inverter that has a 12-24 VAC input, or use a Bridge Rectifier for 12-24 VDC input.
Most Hydro and wind systems also need a Dump Load and Charge Controller if you connect them to a Battery Bank. Using a Battery and charge Controller plus Dump load allows you to store energy 24 hours per day.
The generator has very little cogging torque which means it will provide power with very little water pressure. The magnets are Ceramic and can run at very high temperatures, unlike Neodynium magnets that are only rated for 300-350 F. This is an air-cooled generator. It is an outer Rotor design, and the Rotor will be spinning on top of the Generator. A cover or guard should be placed over this unit to protect a user from personal injury if you touch the spinning wheel, and also to protect the unit from the outside environment.
There is a water seal on the shaft, and the mounting face has plenty of area to put a gasket or RTV sealant. Note that this is an Outer-Rotor design. The shaft and outer-rotor spin, and the center stator (coils) remains stationary. The generator diameter is 204 mm (about 8 inches). It can be mounted with 4 bolts, 5/16-18 on a 3.75 inch bolt circle. (Bolts not included)
The Turgo Wheel is part of this Auction, and it is in the box with the generator.
For international buyers, you may have to pay some VAT or Duty when the goods arrive in your country. We ship by United States Postal Service, which states 6-10 days delivery to international locations, but it can take longer due to the Customs Clearance in your country.
For reference, here is a quick calculation for an approximation of the available power at your site:
Flow in GPM x Height in Feet x 0.09 = Output Power in Watts (GPM is Gallons Per Minute)
Flow in LPS x Height in Meters x 4.45 = Output Power in Watts (LPS is Liters Per Second)
Also note that we do not recommend these generators for Over Unity and Perpetual Motion machines. These generators are 85% to 90% efficient, which means that up to 15% of the energy input is turned into heat in the windings, plus windage in the fan, and it used to overcome friction in the bearings. You will not get more power out of this generator than what you put in. We do not recommend that you try to use the generator's output to run an electric motor, that is connected to the same generator.
Some assembly is required. The Blue Base Box has pre-drilled holes for the generator and nozzle. When fully assembled, the unit is 8.5 inches tall, and 12 x 12 inches at the base.
