Major George Palmer Putnam, husband of Amelia Earhart when she disappeared on a trans-Pacific flight in 1937, and his bride, the former Margaret Haviland of Michigan City, Ind., cut their wedding cake after their marriage here today.
George Palmer Putnam was an American publisher, writer and explorer. Known for his marriage to (and being the widower of) Amelia Earhart, he had also achieved fame as one of the most successful promoters in the United States during the 1930s.
