DRAGON 6361 1/35 M4 81mm Mortar Carriage w/Metal Gun Barrel/3D Printed Headlight Guard & Horn Guard
[About the actual car]
- During World War II, when mobility was emphasized due to advances in tanks, various artillery pieces were no longer limited to being towed around; they were instead adapted to be mounted on vehicles and put into combat while still in use, in order to allow for quicker operation.
- Mortars, which are convenient to carry as fire support for infantry, were also mounted on vehicles, increasing their mobility as self-propelled guns.
- This vehicle was developed based on the M2 half-track, one of the M2/M3 half-tracks developed and used by the US military during World War II. It was officially adopted in October 1940, and over 550 vehicles were produced by 1942.
