About the Artist

Maud S. Strum (Maud Squire) was an American artist and illustrator active during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Closely linked with the Art Nouveau movement, she produced posters, book covers, and magazine illustrations characterized by graceful lines, stylized detail, and a soft, romantic aesthetic. Although not as widely remembered as some of her contemporaries, Strum’s work remains an important contribution to American illustration during the Edwardian and Art Nouveau periods.
