The Eurofighter Typhoon is a European multinational, twin engine, canard delta wing multirole fighter. The Typhoon had its first flight on 27 March 1994. It was introduced into service on 04 August 2003. There have been 589 examples manufactured from 1994 to present. The Typhoon is a highly agile aircraft, designed to be an effective dogfighter in combat.
The Austrian Air Force is a component part of the Austrian Armed Forces. The Austrian Air Force in its current form was created in May of 1955 by the victorious Allied powers. They have 112 aircraft in service, with 15 of those the Typhoon. In 2022, the Austrian Minister of Defense announced that the entire fleet of Eurofighters would be modernized. They are to receive night vision, self-defense and medium range missles. The Austrian Squadrons 1 and 2 Typhoon's are based at Zeltweg Air Base located in central Austria.
