Right off the bat, the marbles are not in perfect condition; but they are one of those pieces where the condition does not affect the overall look and feel. 

Now, that being said, these are an amazing pair of unique bookends; Which we believe to be from the 1990's and inspired by the postmodern, Italian Memphis design school. We also believe these were a one-off piece constructed by an artist or craftsman. As to the design, first of all the pink color is to die for; and the zig-zag/staircase form made of wood and set over the white marble—with one triangle cut side—are magical. It's one of those items that will strike a conversation piece, and bring you a smile ever time you look at it. Just imagine it on your mantel, desk, or bookcase.
