TORVA has grown!
In
April 2011, IKEA planted the seeds of its TORVA collection with a book,
“Heroes in the Vegetable Patch” by Ulf Stark and Charlotte Ramel, and
accompanying soft toy carrots, wild strawberries and broccoli. Designed
to encourage environmental thinking amongst small children and to help
generate a personal relationship to nature, the TORVA collection has
grown. This August, the happy characters and patterns of TORVA expand to
textiles like quilt covers, curtains, blankets, a rug and two rattles.
The collection features baby-specific items like bump pads, a hooded
towel, a sleeping bag, a blanket and cot textiles like TORVA BLAD and
TORVA SMULTRON. When the baby is ripe for bigger furnishings, TORVA
TRÄGÅRD and TORVA GRÖNSAK fit larger beds help create a personal,
inspiring and natural room to grow.
"The theme is ‘the vegetable patch’ – and in it live a group of funny
friends, like the strawberry with legs and the broccoli with a smile. My
hope with the collection is to inspire children to explore how plants
grow and introduce them to environmental thinking. They will also find
it lots of fun to read about the characters, play with them as soft
toys, then fall asleep with pictures of them on their pillowcase."
