The Mobile and Ohio Railroad was a railroad in the Southern U.S. In it was merged with the Gulf, Mobile and Northern Railroad to form the Gulf, Mobile and Ohio Railroad, which operated from Mobile, Alabama to points in Illinois.
For auction is a rule book entitled "Mobile & Ohio Railroad Company, Schedule of Rates of Pay, Rules and Regulations for Trainmen and Yardmen." It is dated February 1, 1927.
It covers freight and passenger service and addresses such topics as seniority and promotions, yard service, switching, assignments, many more.
This book measures appx 6 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches and contains 54 pages. The cover is a thick cardstock, the content pages a mid-grade paperstock. Despite being almost 100 years old, it is in very good condition. There are no rips or tears, and the binding is secure with all pages firmly in place. There is some writing on the cover and on several content pages.
