This came with a microscope owned by Archdeacon Francis Ernest Haviland, . He likely got it from his father Edwin Haviland (1823-1908). Both  specialised in the fertilisation of Australian plants and also worked at taxonomy and other branches of botany, and their contributions are mostly to be found in Proc. Linn. Soc. N.S.W. Acacia havilandii is named after them.

This brass objective has no markings other than  X24 is scratched on it. It might be from Paul Waechter, Berlin based on family similarities and another in the collection - but not sure. But judge for yourself.

You can judge the physical condition from the photos. The lens is free of discoloration, scratches etc and works to my satisfaction. You may wish to clean carefully.
