This beautiful matched rug set comes from Taşpınar, one of the most respected weaving districts of Central Anatolia, located within the region of Aksaray. The area is home to several historic weaving villages, each with its own subtle visual language — and this particular set can be traced to Arısaman.

One of the most telling regional signatures is the distinctive orange border, a detail long associated with Arısaman weavings and an immediate clue to its origin for knowledgeable collectors.

The rugs are woven from hand-spun yarns and dyed with natural root pigments, preserving the honest, slightly irregular texture that defines authentic Anatolian village production. Originally, pieces like these were not made as standalone floor carpets. Instead, they served as one face of the traditional cushion forms used in the seating alcoves of Anatolian homes — part of the layered textile culture that shaped the famous “şark köşesi” interiors.

Today, that same structure gives them remarkable versatility:

they can function as small rugs, wall textiles, or cushion panels while retaining their historic character.

Beyond craftsmanship, the weaving center itself adds meaning. Taşpınar carpets are widely respected among collectors, and simply bearing the name of the region already lends these pieces vintage significance.
