Boy Scout Flag Pole Fleur de Lis Threaded FINIAL Troop Rovers Venturers Sea Scouts S2008G

DESCRIPTION:     Boy Scout cast BRASS flag pole finial, threaded end, sometimes described as a flag pole mount or flag pole topper, threaded end

-the symbolic Fleur de Lis design was used at a variety of levels including Troop, Rovers (Senior Scouts) Venturers, Sea Scouts and eventually Beavers as well, Wolf Cubs had their own Pack finial featuring the Lean Wolf, Leaping Wolf or Wolf Head designs

-a great vintage Scouting collectible, a wonderful display item for a collector of Scout memorabilia or perhaps a perfect addition to a flag pole currently being used in your Scouting activities to add the extra impact  

SIZE:                  -measures approximately 3 ¼ inches by 6 inches or 8.5 cm by 15 cm in height and width

-from my review of Boy Scouts of Canada Boy Scouts Price Lists and Catalogues I believe this style was introduced in 1964

-early styles were socket type that fit over the pole and often had a screw to hold it in place, later styles, in the 1960’s were threaded and were then screwed into a brass holder that then attached to the flag pole

-most of the brass finials found have a rich patina, others were regularly polished over the years which I understand was the custom in some Scouting Groups

-I believe this style of finial was used in a variety of commonwealth countries and territories including the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, South Africa and New Zealand but if anyone knows for sure please let us know

NOTE:  I have in another eBay listing the accompanying attachment that you might need for your pole.  Please see item # 198177897971   Boy Scout BRASS threaded finial wood flag pole attachment, measures approximately 3” or 75 mm in height and would fit into a wood flag pole that is under 7/8” or 20mm in diameter, -one end is threaded for the flag finial to be screwed in and the other end fits over the wood flag pole, there are 2 holes on one side in which wood screws would be inserted to hold this attachment in place

These extra photos show some of the Boy Scout finials in my collection.  Some of the other styles I do have spares. If I have any spares, those finials are or will be listed on eBay in the very near future. 

Some of the finials in the images were used throughout the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and other Commonwealth jurisdictions.  Other finials were designed and used in specific countries.   Two designs created and used ONLY in Canada featured a King's Crown and then a Queen's Crown after the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. If anyone knows of any other designs used in Scouting worldwide, please do consider messaging me.
