This is a 1963 letter from Dan who lived in Milwaukee at the time to his grandparents in Topeka Kansas. I found the letter at an estate in Evanston, Illinois, where Dan’s family eventually moved. The correspondence includes a hand drawn map of Lake Park in Milwaukee that includes McKinley Beach and Bradford beach. The letter is written on the back of a Cue News Market Survey. The correspondence is in good vintage condition, see photos. It is really quite charming.

For a bit more history, Dan was the son of Robert R. Jones’ whose mother was Marie Carter the great great granddaughter of the Potawatomi missionary Robert Simerwell. Her great grandmother was Elizabeth Simerwell Carter, the first white female born in Kansas.
