This is a Single Pole, Single Throw (SPST) switch -- the simplest switch type. It either completes or breaks a single circuit:

Simply wire the switch in series with your load. When the rocker is ON, the two terminals are connected and current flows. When OFF, the connection is broken. Either pin can be input or output -- there is no polarity.
