J. H. Colton, Map Publishers.

(Old Prints, 19th Century Prints, Advertising, J.H. Colton, Map Makers, New York City).

Issued c. 1850'- early 1860s, likely promotional re-issues of earlier engraved prints, found here overprinted on reverse with period local (New York City) advertising in this era.

Bartlett engraved view of General Brock's Monument above Queenstown done c.1840-50's by George Virtue, London on reverse of this ad.

Excellent antique steel engraved print on front of ad, this ad printed on the blank reverse in a separate printing run from the engraved images which would have been imported from England for binding and placement within different plate books issued by the publisher. Interesting and uncommon intersection of local advertising meeting an engraved print.

Paper and image shows age spotting, otherwise with a fine patina and visual appeal.

Sheet measures c. 8" H x 10 1/2" W.

Printed area measures c. 5" H x 7" W.
