Failure to add gear oil before installation can damage the product and may lead to premature failure. Proper lubrication is critical to the performance and longevity of your transfer case, and we highly recommend following the manufacturer's instructions for adding gear oil prior to installation. We want to emphasize the importance of using the correct gear oil and adding it in the proper amount.
