An iconic Mid Century Electro-Mechanical desk clock, Rocket Line.
This is a very stylish desk clock that encapsulates the 1960s fascination with the futuristic space age and everything ultra-modern in design. In a pre-quartz watch world where all watch houses were in the race to create a watch and clock that didn’t require winding, Omega produced their Rocket Line series of table clocks from 1963 to the early 1970s when quartz clocks and watches took over.
The Omega calibre 095 movement employs a remontoire rewinding system where the mechanical clock has a short mainspring which is automatically and regularly rewound. This gives a more uniform power source to the mechanism and therefore better timekeeping capabilities.
The clock has the original gold painted finish to the elongated cone case, with grained champagne dial and applied baton hour markers. The date is square to the VI and signed ‘Omega’, it has a rear-set electrically wound mechanical calibre 095 15 jewel movement with Swiss lever escapement to the plain balance.
The Omega Rocket Line Clock is a vintage timepiece that captures the futuristic design aesthetic of the 1960s. Its precise timekeeping and unique design make it a sought-after collectible and a stunning addition to any retro-inspired or mid-century modern space.
