This historical drama is an adaptation of The Captain and Ann Barbara, a book written by Ida Jessen. The story is set in 1755 and follows Ludvig Kahlen, a veteran soldier who was awarded a piece of land in a Northern European peninsula by the king. He tries hard to establish a life there, hoping to create a thriving settlement with the help of some people in the area. However, their efforts are being blocked by an evil landowner who wants to take over the whole area.
