Spin the ratchet stop to a click and read the size on the LCD, even with oily gloves on. The Mitutoyo 293-240-30 (MDC-25PX) Coolant Proof Digimatic Micrometer is for machinists and inspectors who check small parts right at the machine.
Splash it with coolant and keep measuring: the IP65-sealed body and oil-resistant plastics shrug off cutting fluid and shop dust. Zero it on a master part to read deviation, press HOLD when the display faces away from you, and let the carbide-tipped faces take the wear. One SR44 cell runs it for about 2.4 years.
Made in Japan by Mitutoyo, it comes with an inspection certificate you can file with your quality records.
