The Extron MLS 406 is a simple-to-use, six input, multi-format switcher that provides computer video, S-video, and composite video switching, along with stereo audio input switching. An additional input accepts balanced/unbalanced mono line level audio signals for mixing with any of the four switchable inputs. The switcher includes a fixed and variable preamp output that can be configured for mono or stereo output to suit the needs of the installation. For enhanced operation, ease of room control, and simplified system integration, the MLS 406 can be controlled with a TouchLink® Control System or MediaLink®Controller.
The MLS 406 switcher provides three configurable 15-pin HD inputs to support high resolution RGBHV, S-video, or composite video sources with 15-pin HD local monitor loop-through. Three additional inputs are configurable to accept S-video or composite video signals, and all inputs support stereo audio. A line level mono audio auxiliary/mix input is available for consumer and professional audio sources such as a wireless microphone receiver for mixing with the selected input. The switcher also features audio input gain and attenuation for each input, plus loudness control and master volume control through the front panel or via RS-232.
The MLS 406 includes two preamp balanced or unbalanced audio outputs, one fixed and one variable. All outputs can be configured via RS-232 for mono or stereo audio output.

- Controllable via TouchLink® Control System, MediaLink® Controller, front panel buttons, or RS-232 — The switchers can be controlled using the front panel backlit buttons or RS-232. An optional TouchLink Touchpanel Control System or MediaLink Controller may be connected to the RS-232 port to provide a simple and intuitive user interface for the MLS Switchers, and the entire room.
- Local monitor output — 15-pin HD connector functions as additional RGB output or local monitor output to enable preview monitor capability without the need of a distribution amplifier.
- Audio input gain and attenuation — Gain or attenuation can be adjusted for each input to eliminate noticeable differences when switching between sources.
- Fixed and variable preamp line level audio outputs — Can be set for mono or stereo via RS-232.
- Additional input accepts balanced/unbalanced mono line level audio signals for mixing with any of the four switchable inputs
- Loudness control — Boosts low and high frequencies to compensate for the normal decreased hearing ability of the human ear at low volume levels.
- Triple-Action Switching™ for RGB delay — Blanks the screen during switching of RGB signals to eliminate visible switching transitions.
- Front panel security lockout — Allows security lockout of front panel buttons setup and adjustment options.
- Rack-mountable, 1U, full rack width metal enclosure
- Highly reliable, energy-efficient internal universal power supply — The 100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz, international power supply provides worldwide power compatibility with high demonstrated reliability.
