This is a stained-glass kaleidoscope made by award-winning scope maker, Nedra Reed.
This scope is a kevel spinner kaleidoscope that spins on a horizontal plane. The sculptured wheel on the end creates the images within the scope, when it is turned horizontally. The scope is about 6.5 long and the sides are about an inch high.
This scope has an "At the Sea, Ocean" theme and is made from a blue iridized glass, Iridized glass has a reflective sheet with a rainbow-like cast. On one side is a fused glass lighthouse. On the other is brass wire a shark's tooth and a shell. All the fused glass and was made by this artist in her kiln and then incorporated into this one-of-a-kind scope. The wheel on the end has fused glass pieces, a brass mermaid, brass shell, a brass starfish and a pewter light house. Can you find these sea items in the pictures? The pictures don't capture the beauty. The flash distorts. See my customer comments.
Nedra's scopes are now featured in several kaleidoscope stores, both in Arizona and in New York. They were also selected for two international competitions in the last two years.
They make fantastic gifts for special occasions: Weddings, Bar and Bat Mitzvas, Graduations and all other holidays.
The scope ships free within the United States.
Everyone loves a kaleidoscope, and they won't find one of these in a store, since it is totally original and all handmade. This is a piece of art - I've been making scopes for over 30 years.
Quality front-surface mirrors; decorative soldering, magnifying lens in eyepiece.
