Up for sale is this antique Japanese Meiji period satsuma art pottery lidded tea caddy jar with incredible detail on all sides.

We see two robes gentlemen wearing elaborate silk embroidered robes as one holds a fan and the other reveals a long scroll with Japanese characters. They are sitting seaside with rocky formations in the background. Their female attendant is nearby, waiting to assist. The robes and even the wooden platform all have the most fantastic gilt gold accents. Outside of this large cartouche scene, we see intricate flower blossoms and geometric patterns.

The reverse side shows a group of young robed children gathered on a platform near the sea. Behind them with rocky formations and a bridge off to the left.

So many beautiful hand-painted additions included enameled raised dots and accents that provide the jar with texture. No detail was left behind!

The applied ear handles are lovely and the jar and lid looks quite pristine with no cracks or major issues. Just the tiniest flea bite on the jar rim edge but barely noticeable. Besides light paint and gilding wear, this piece looks near perfect!

Displays well from all sides as you can see and a functional and decorative vessel sure to impress all those who see it!

Measures 7” inches long, 6.2” inches tall and 4.75” inches wide (17.8 cm, 15.7 cm, 12.1 cm).

Would make a fantastic display piece, fine addition to a collection, or a great gift!
