One end of the cable has a 6 pin DIN plug which connects to the ACC1 socket on the radio.

This cable contains a Genuine FTDI USB to serial converter, so the radio appears as a COM port on the PC.

It is designed as a USB replacement for the Kenwood IF-232C interface. (On the TS-450S/690S the ACC1 socket is on the left side panel of the case.)

The cable will also work with the following radios, but only if they have the correct Kenwood interface board installed:
