50 series 51 type passenger car set


The 50 series was introduced in 1977 as a passenger car that was designed to replace aging old passenger cars and was equipped with automatic doors to improve safety.

The 50 series 51 type (Oha 51 and Ohafu 51) passenger cars for Hokkaido were introduced in 1978 as vehicles for cold regions with smaller windows and double-glazed windows.

It is used in various areas of Hokkaido, but in the vicinity of Sapporo, up to 8-car formations were mainly operated between Iwamizawa and Otaru.
