Hessonite is a member of the grossular garnet family, with a colour that ranges from a yellowy-orange through to a dark brown-red. It tends to vary from transparent to opaque, with the transparent more likely to be cut for jewellery usage.

Hessonite Grossular Garnet specimens from Mohmand agency, Pakistan. These pieces are quite small, typically opaque to translucent, with decent colour. They will make good micromounts.
