In 2008 Harley Davidson Introduced Their Version of an Electronic Throttle System.Throttle-by-wire replaces throttle cables with an electrically wired electronic position sensor at the throttle handgrip, that transmits a signal to a motor controlling the opening and closing of the throttle plate. In addition Newer Harley Davidson models use "Controller Area Network" (CAN) wiring and circuit boards which are mounted in the handlebar switch housings. CAN is a 2 way communication network that eliminates the need for the large amount of wires used in previous models. Our wiring harness extension kits are used when installing Taller bars and there is a need to extend the CAN wiring harness as well as the Electronic Throttle harness in 2016-Current Harley-Davidson models that are fitted with these systems. (not all earlier models use both systems)
