Fantastic large antique bronze censer. Chinese or Japanese, made in the 19th century. A big beautifully cast foo dog finial sits proudly atop the lid. Mythical beasts adorn the handles and legs. The old champleve enamel maintains vibrant color. There is a white and red owl in the center enameled medallion. The enamel is in a good state of preserve. The censer sits on a bronze enameled base. It looks like the censer body was soldered to the base at one point. It’s separated now but sits perfectly where it was once soldered if you leave it be. In all there are three pieces lid, body, and base. Altogether it stands 21” tall and commands quite a presence. Other than some normal wear for its age everything is in great condition. It was purchased from a high end auction house in the Boston area. It’s been a pleasure to have on display since then. Shipping will be asap! Thanks
