Richard Spinner, a Chicago graphic artist, is a pioneer of the Graphic Tape Media. Dozens of his works have been

reproduced as silk screen prints for commercial distribution and advertising. Unlike Agam, Vasarely, and Lichtenstein, who painted their lines using masking tape, Spinner has mastered the use of graphic tape to create illusion and expression. His sculptor-like techniques, on a 2-dimensional surface, give him more expressive freedom than the traditional artist’s approach.

Original concepts can take up to a year before going into print production. The artist’s signed and numbered pieces are produced on archival paper as giclée prints. His new works include original multi-level dynamic 2-dimensional graphic tape art, using four layers of acrylic sheet and overlapping graphic tape, creating subtle shadows and shifts in geometric forms as the light source changes throughout the day or the viewer passes by the piece. There has never quite been another artist like Richard known anywhere. He is the owner of Richard Spinner Designs, Chicago, Illinois.
