This 1900 edition of
Building Construction and Superintendence, Part I, Mason's Work by F. E. Kidder, has evidently seen some use as it appears to have paint splatters on the cover. The book measures 9 3/4" x 7 1/2" x just under 1 3/4", with brown cloth cover. It is the fourth edition and contains 260 illustrations. There is some wear around the edges and the back cover is beginning to separate from the spine (please see photo). That being said, the binding is still tight and there are no marks or tears on the pages that I have found. As the book is well over 100 years old, the pages have yellowed a bit and there are age stains on some of the pages. The previous owner signed his name on inside cover and dated it--January, 1902. A wonderful collectible and usable reference. Please look closely at the photos as they are part of the description. Book will be shipped in a box.
Don't miss the "Specifications for the 'Roebling Fireproof Floor'" and especially the multiple pages of vintage advertisements at the very end of the book (including Dyckerhoff Portland Cement, Hummelstown Brown Stone Company, "Terra Blanca Stands the Test", Bedford Oolitic Limestone, Samson Stucco, and not to be forgotten, the final one for F. E. Kidder (Consulting Architect and the author of the book) with "Terms Reasonalble, and Special Prices Given When Desired". He also lists "During fifteen years' practice...rendered assistance... from Main (sic) to California.")
