THE TOOL YOU
NEED TO PROPERLY SYNC YOUR DUAL CARBS!
.
We always say - more
carbs = more problems. After all - carburetors are just
controlled fuel leaks so despite all the benefits of dual
and triple carbs in the power you get, the trade-off is
having to deal with more carbs. One way to make your life
easier is to make sure your carbs are synced. Carbs that
aren't synced will create a situation where your engine will
have a rough idle, poor fuel mileage, and make all kind of
weird noises as your carbs and engine basically tell you how
much they hate you. Two of the most important factors on
getting your carbs set up properly is making sure the
linkage is good and tight so both carbs are opening at the
same time and a quality synchronizer tool so that the carbs
are allowing the same amount of vacuum into their respective
cylinders. What we use in our shop is the STE SK 'Snail'
style synchronizer that is made in Germany. It's better than
the cheaper Chinese knock-off in every way other than it
costs more - but as in all things, you get what you pay for.
You
only need one tool no matter how many carbs you're
synchronizing. The STE SK is the smaller size they make
which will fit 40-55mm diameter intakes (1 5/8" to 2 1/8")
and measures airflow from 1 to 30 kg/h so this will fit IDFs and DCOEs with no adapter but you will need to
separately purchase an adapter for DGVs, DFVs, ICTs, Kadrons
and so on. If you need a synchronizer with a larger opening for Weber IDAs and such we also carry the STE BK tool in another auction.
Do it once - do it right!
