The item for sale is a thangka, thanka or Buddhist religious painting that was originally painted in the centuries old Tibetan Buddhist tradition but reproduced using a high resolution modern giclee process. The subject of the painting is Dorje Drolo one of the Eight Manifestations of Guru Rinpoche or Padmasambhava. The giclee process involves digital imaging and high resolution printing with numerous pigment based colorants. It is difficult to distinguish from the thin almost gouache type of paint used on original thangkas. Excellent photographs of a different example of this same giclee print can be found on the internet under the title "c". The quality and number of details on the image are absolutely amazing. Images of this size are expensive to produce. The artwork is printed on high quality thick paper. The thangka print is in overall excellent condition. The colors are clean and intense. There are creases in the paper as seen on the photograph of part of the back of the giclee, but these creases are not visible on the front. There is a tiny loss caused by a scrape as shown in the upper right of the second photograph. This requires an intense search to notice. There is a minor anomaly in the paper surface shown in the third photograph. This is nearly impossible to notice. The size is 24" x 35 1/2". There are tiny margins at the top and bottom, none on the sides. The item will be shipped rolled in a tube.
