Description Rare Antique ELLIOTT BROTHER'S needle operating big dial compass, Strand London, 1857. Compass is in good working order, usually these compass are placed on brass stand so there is an attachment at the back of compass for stand fitting. Stand is missing but even without stand compass stays stable on flat surface . There is some color loss on metal dial of compass, compass has a nice needle locking clip on the outer right portion. Both vernier rods attached on both ends of compass are non fold-able. It is indeed a rare collectible compass hard to find, would be a great addition to any old compass collection and a must for old civil war period item collector's.
