This instrument is mainly used to determine the adhesion of paint by cross-cut method, and is suitable for laboratories or construction sites under various conditions.

Working principle and scope of application

This instrument cuts and penetrates the coating as a grid pattern with a tool of a certain specification. The finished graphics are classified into 6 categories, and the adhesion effect of the coating from the substrate is evaluated. It is suitable for measuring the surface paint of plastic and wood furniture. The film thickness is less than 250m, the adhesion strength of the paint film to the substrate

Operation method

The test piece must be customized according to SR1514 and 1S02828

Place the test piece on a flat plate with sufficient hardness

Hold the guide gauge (100 grid board) so that the bottom surface is completely flush with the surface of the finished surface coating

Use a uniformly pressed 100 grid board, use a sharp blade to cut the knife at a cutting speed of 20-50m/s without shaking

Rotate the 100 grid board 90 degrees, repeat the above operation on the cut cut to form a grid pattern

Use a tape that meets the standard to stick to the crossed surface and tear off the tape to observe the adhesion strength of the coating on the surface
 
Precautions

1. All incisions should penetrate the coating, but not too deep into the substrate

2. If the coating is too thick and hard to penetrate the substrate, the experiment is invalid but it should be stated in the experiment report

3. The test tape must be a 600 special test tape produced by 3M in the United States

Stick the tape on the entire grid, and then tear it off at the smallest angle. The result can be obtained according to the ratio of the glued area on the surface of the paint film

4. The experiment should be carried out at a temperature of 23±2C and a relative humidity of 50±5%
