The Original 1st British pressing, Gold & Black label Mono of the 1st Beatles album "Please Please Me".Parlophone Records was a budget, novelty label owned by EMI with no thought any significant artists would ever be signed or promoted from there by their EMI parent company.In that regard, the Parlophone label design was a staid 1920's style Gold lettering with a Black background until The Beatles created immediate success and the release rocketed to immediate sales success inspiring Parlophone to modernize their stately 1920's label to look younger and more fun by changing the staid conservative Gold lettering to the large Yellow lettering and glossy black label.So, when did this happen?The label re-design happened in April 1963. The release of "Please Please Me" was March 22, 1963, meaning the record for sale here has the old label design making it a 1st pressing less than a month before the instant success of this release and the label re-design.Record has some visual marks that do not affect play and do not sound. There is tape residue on label Side 2. VG- (see photos)NOTE: The actual sound of this Mono record is very full and extremely rich with an truly big sound not usually found on the British Parlophone releases. Jacket has obvious tape and discoloration issues.
