Studies for Painting of School of Athens

This is an etching, etched plate by Paul P.A. Robert (Robert de Seri), in sepia browns.  (He was a painter of Cardinal de Rohan). From the woodcut in three shades, after Raphael, by Nicolas Le Sueur. Paris, 1730s.  There is a watermark evident between the standing turbaned figure and the head leaning in to look.  I've tried to capture this with a light, which is why you see bright color in one photo. On the right is a group representing Pythagoras writing in a book, other philosophers; at center a male figure leaning on a walking stick; at left a study for Parmenides.  Piece measures 15" x 13" high.  In very good condition, note foxing and stain on back. Info about the piece was obtained from other sources, and to the best of my knowledge, this appears to be authentic.  Sold as is.
