Andrew Kalman was born into a Hungarian family, members of which perished in the Holocaust.  He moved to
England at nineteen and in 1949 opened a small gallery in the basement of a former air raid shelter in Manchester.  In 1957 he moved to London and set up the Crane Kalman Gallery.  The gallery specializes in Modern British Art. In 1997 Kalman decided to mount an exhibition about humor in art.  Twenty-five percent of exhibition sales were designated for the Comic Relief Ltd. Established in 1985, the organization tackles poverty and social injustice in Africa and the UK (see Catalog Preface). The exhibition opened in Paris and then moved to London.  Offered for sale is the exhibition catalog.  Softcover, unpaginated, color ills. Minor age related wear (mainly lower right corner of front cover).  Very nice piece.  (9 on scale of 10)
