These are through-hole LEDs with clear, round lenses in either white, red, yellowy-orange, green, deep blue or light blue (choose your preference from the drop-down menu). Also available are slow or fast colour-changing LEDs which automatically loop continuously through the visible spectrum. The LED lenses are clear and have integrated 500 Ω resistors to make them suitable to connect directly to a 12 V source. They also light up at 5 V or any voltage in-between but with proportionally lower current and therefore lower brightness.
There is no difference in brightness between the 3 mm and 5 mm LEDs. They both have the exact same internals.
They are popular among model makers but are also useful to have on the bench when breadboarding, if only to save the hassle of finding a suitable resistor and keep the breadboard a little tidier.
The longest leg is the anode (connect this to positive).
The battery and breadboard pictured in some of the photographs are being used to demonstrate the operating voltage and are not included in the sale.
Delivery
Orders will be dispatched within one business day, using recycled packaging wherever viable.
By default, all orders are dispatched by Royal Mail Second Class/RM48. If your order is needed urgently, you are encouraged to select an upgraded postage option, such as First Class/RM24 or Royal Mail Special Delivery, during checkout.
Some areas of the UK have experienced a degraded level of service from the Royal Mail with deliveries as infrequently as once per week or worse. If you are currently affected by this, please contact me before ordering to discuss the possibility of using an alternative courier service.
