WOW!!!  Recently found in Central Maine.  This listing is for a very unique, blacksmith made outside caliper.  Judging by the construction the blacksmith that made this certainly knew his trade.  We would date this to the mid 1800's.  When closed this measures 16 5/8" high x 10 1/4" wide.  When fully closed there is a 2" opening at the caliper points.  This would be for measuring items larger than 2".  As shown in the photos each side has very interesting hand cut graduated lines with hand stamped numerals.  These are somewhat crude giving this a great folky look.  A super item for your antique, primitive, hand forged, machinist, or measuring tool collection.
