Wood Anemone is native to Europe.
In early to mid spring it carpets woodlands with a magical display of beautiful white flowers, often flushed with pink or lilac underneath.
It dies back and sets seed before the height of summer and spreads by rhizones and seed.

DORMANCY - Many tree, shrub and conifer seeds and some perennial seeds have a natural period of dormancy. This is a natural process which ensures the seeds do not germinate till conditions suit, usually in the spring. The natural dormancy of the seed can be broken by a period of stratification. This will be explained in the instructions supplied with the seed. This may require some patience but you will be rewarded with lots of plants at minimal cost. It is possible to create a box, yew or beech hedge for just a few pounds!
