About the Artwork
In 1883 Winslow Homer moved to the fishing village of Prout's Neck, Maine, where, leading a hermit's lifestyle, he produced some of the most powerful seascapes in Western art. Northeaster is an exceptional example in which the ferocious sea clashing against the immovable rocky coast, absent any human figures or narrative elements, invites the spectator to witness the eternal pulse of nature; the endless struggle of elemental forces beside which humanity rendered fragile, temporary and insignificant.
Fine Art Quality
The Ibis’s giclée process uses archival pigment inks on 100% cotton rag paper to achieve crisp detail and rich, lasting color. Unlike posters, they will not yellow with time, but will maintain their original quality for as long as you own them.
