AccuSpark Fast Road Distributors
Why the original LUCAS curve is outdated
The original Lucas advance curve was designed for 1970s leaded petrol, which burned differently to modern fuels. Today’s unleaded petrol requires a different ignition advance pattern to achieve efficient combustion, so the factory curve often results in sluggish throttle response and reduced mid-range performance.
The AccuSpark updated performance curve is calibrated to suit modern unleaded fuel, restoring crisp response and improved drivability.
This distributor features a performance advance curve developed for modern unleaded fuel. Compared with the original 1970s Lucas curve, advance comes in earlier through the mid-range, improving throttle response and engine torque during normal road driving.
The curve is fully progressive and stable, reaching optimal advance by around 5000 RPM, which suits the power characteristics of the B-series engine. This provides stronger acceleration, smoother drivability and improved responsiveness without the harsh timing spikes often found in worn or poorly calibrated factory distributors.
Ideal for fast road use, this curve delivers the performance enthusiasts expect while remaining safe and reliable on modern unleaded petrol.
For even better reliability, this distributor has been paired with an AccuSpark Stealth electronic ignition module. The module replaces traditional contact points, eliminating wear and the need for regular adjustment. This provides more accurate ignition timing, stronger spark energy and improved starting, while remaining completely hidden inside the distributor for an original appearance.
Ideal for drivers who want modern ignition reliability without altering the classic look of their engine bay.
