Vtg Road Handlan Lantern "Prop of Consolidated Edison Co, NY " with Red Globe

I would say this is a pretty rare find from the Consolidated Edison Co.

This could have been used as a warning lamp for a number of different things

Approx Measurements are 10"H x 6 1/2"W

Red Globe has a hair line crack about 2"-3" long and also has "No. 10" and a "E" with 3 accents on either side of it..not sure if "E" is for the Edison Co??

The Lantern Looks to be original in color which is Green

The lantern is missing its internal parts the wick and knob to turn the flame up and down, and missing the handle

It does have some good dents on the top of the bottom part of the lantern

See Pics for better details of imperfections

Here is a little History on "Consolidated Edison Co. NY"

Today, Con Edison operates the largest commercial steam system in the world, providing steam service to nearly 1,600 commercial and residential establishments in Manhattan from the Battery to 96th Street.

Con Edison’s electric business also dates back to 1882, when Thomas Edison's Edison Illuminating Company of New York began supplying electricity to 59 customers in a square-mile area in lower Manhattan. After the War of Currents, there were more than 30 companies generating and distributing electricity in New York City and Westchester County. But by 1920 there were far fewer, and the New York Edison Company (then part of Consolidated Gas) was clearly the leader.

In 1936, with electric sales far outstripping gas sales, the company incorporated and the name was changed to Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc.
