Hope hopes for a successful modelling career despite a big scar on her face. Faith has faith that she will make it big as a singer, while Chastity literally sleeps her way to the top... I Hate Paris tells the tale of the three friends’ rise and fall. Chastity, the opportunist, makes it as a porn star; Faith’s singing career takes off like a rocket; and Hope finds success as a top model. The three women suffer a string of misfortunes: drug and alcohol abuse, date rape and a video tape, abortion, violence, betrayal … Paris is a very ambiguous book. Vande Wiele pays tribute to the superficial world of the jet-set, yet never fails to point out the dark and gruesome side of the story. He dresses and undresses humankind all at once.
