For sale is my Orange C16R, 1995 edition. I added the red Clockwork decals later. A genuine mid-1990s British mountain bike with a nice collection of period components and upgrades.
The frame measures 19 inches from the centre of the bottom bracket to the top of the seat tube, and the bike runs 26-inch wheels.
It has been upgraded during its life and has a good selection of period components, including RST Mozo Pro suspension forks, Mavic 217 SUP rims, Shimano STX/STX-RC components, X-Lite stem/seatpost/bar ends and an Orange Hot Rod handlebar.
The bike is approximately 30 years old and has plenty of signs of use, including paint chips, scratches and general cosmetic wear. The saddle is particularly worn, as shown in the photographs.
Mechanically, the bike is rideable and basically works, but I would recommend a thorough service before regular use. There is some play/wobble in the bottom bracket, which will need attention, but for a competent bike mechanic it shouldn’t be too difficult or expensive to replace if required.
Specification includes:
* Orange C16R steel frame * 26” wheels * Mavic 217 SUP rims * RST Mozo Pro suspension forks * Shimano STX/STX-RC drivetrain components * Shimano STX rear derailleur * Triple chainset * Orange Hot Rod handlebar * X-Lite stem * X-Lite seatpost * X-Lite bar ends * Shimano brake/gear controls * Cantilever brakes * Period Beartrap red pedals and finishing components
It’s a really nice basis for a retro Orange restoration, or could simply be serviced and enjoyed as it is. The various period upgrades are part of the bike’s history and give it plenty of mid-90s character.
